Didn’t have plans for December yet, did you? You could very well be on your way to Las Vegas in mid-December to play the BetMGM Championship tournaments at the ARIA Poker Open.
This new December series at ARIA is featuring two special BetMGM Poker events, and BetMGM Poker online is offering exclusive prize packages from this week through December 8. If you win one of them, you’ll be playing two Vegas tournaments for poker glory and some extra holiday money for you (or for Santa). Not a bad way to end 2024!
ARIA Poker Open
The live tournament series was a surprise addition to the December poker calendar. The ARIA Poker Room had such great results from its summer series on the Las Vegas Strip that management wanted to do it again – this time during the holiday season. So, the ARIA Poker Open was born.
ARIA Series Details
The ARIA Poker Open will play out in its player-favorite poker room on the Las Vegas Strip. The details are as follows:
- Dates: December 4-22
- Events: 18 tournaments
- Guarantees: $3,000,000 across 18 events
Most of the tournaments are single-day events, each with a guarantee on the prize pool. The only exception will be the multi-day BetMGM Championship with its $1,000,000 guarantee.
The series will offer mostly No Limit Hold’em tournaments with a few of them as Mystery Bounty events, but there will be Omaha action in the form of PLO events, a PLO Mystery Bounty, and a Pot Limit Big O event.
BetMGM Events at ARIA Poker Open
The two featured events at the ARIA Poker Open are sponsored by BetMGM Poker. They take place in the middle of the series:
- December 12: $1,100 buy-in BetMGM No Limit Hold’em Mystery Bounty with $300,000 guaranteed (30,000 chips / 30-minute levels)
- December 13-16: $1,600 buy-in BetMGM No Limit Hold’em Championship with $1,000,000 guaranteed (40,000 chips / 40-minute levels)
The BetMGM Championship will offer two starting flights (December 13 and 14), with survivors returning to play together on Day 2 (December 15). They will play until the final table is set, and that final table will be livestreamed on PokerGO on Monday, December 16. PokerOrg reporters will also be on site throughout both tournaments to report the action and feature highlight reels.
Win Your Way to Play
This is where your job begins. You can play online satellites, take advantage of bonus opportunities through the special Pick-a-Card promotion, or play live satellites at ARIA in December. The goal is to win your Las Vegas poker package valued at approximately $5,000, which will include:
- $1,100 buy-in to BetMGM NLHE Mystery Bounty with its $300,000 guarantee

Let’s look at the different ways to win.
BetMGM Poker Online Satellites
The online poker qualifiers are already running on BetMGM Poker in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey and continue through December 8. For as little as $2, you can work the steps on the satellite schedule to win a prize package.
Step 1 qualifiers cost $2 to enter and run on demand when at least three players are registered. They are available around the clock and award seats to the Step 2 qualifiers. Those Step 2 qualifiers also run on demand and require buy-in or a tournament ticket from an earlier qualifier. Winners will receive a seat to a Step 3 qualifier. Finally, Step 3 qualifiers run on demand as well and award seats to the final satellites.
The final prize package satellites will run:
- Friday, November 29 (2 packages guaranteed for NJ/MI, 1 package for PA)
- Tuesday, December 3 (4 packages guaranteed for NJ/MI, 2 packages for PA)
- Thursday, December 5 (4 packages guaranteed for NJ/MI, 2 packages for PA)
- Sunday, December 8 (2 packages guaranteed for NJ/MI, 1 package for PA)
Players can enter these final tournaments with tickets from steps or by buying in for $500.
ARIA Poker Open Pick-a-Card
This Pick-a-Card promotion will run November 27 through December 7 based on BRPs (BetMGM Rewards Points). Players must earn at least 20 BRPs in a day, at which point they will win the opportunity to choose one of three cards.
- $500 ARIA Poker Open qualifier ticket
- $50 ARIA Poker Open qualifier ticket
- $5 ARIA Poker Open qualifier ticket
Note that the $500 and $50 tickets will expire on December 8, and the $5 ticket expires just three days after claimed.
Players can earn 20 BRPS per day and play the ARIA Poker Open Pick-a-Card game every day during the promo period.
ARIA On-Site Satellites
Players who will be in Vegas for the ARIA Poker Open – or for any other reason, really – can take advantage of satellites in the ARIA Poker Room in mid-December. There are two satellites listed on the ARIA Poker Open tournament schedule, one on the evening of December 12 and the other the evening of December 13. They both offer a $240 buy-in to win a seat into the $1,600 BetMGM Championship. Each satellite will guarantee at least 10 seats.
