The Summer Classic Tournament Series Runs July 14-21 at BetMGM Poker

While poker continues in Las Vegas for a little while longer, most poker players are back home, playing in their local casinos or looking for online poker. BetMGM Poker has already lined up a stellar online tournament series, and it presents a fantastic opportunity for players at all buy-in levels.

It also presents an opportunity to use a grand slam of baseball references when introducing the BetMGM Poker Summer Classic. Batter up!

What is the Summer Classic on BetMGM Poker Online?

The Summer Classic is an online poker tournament series for players on BetMGM Poker. Players in New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania will be able to compete. The most important details can be summed up as follows:

  • Dates: Sunday, July 14 through Sunday, July 21
  • Tournaments: 26 for each state
  • Buy-ins: $20 to $1,000
  • Guarantees: $238,500 for PA / $238,500 for MI / $275,500 for NJ

The Summer Classic lineup starts with the $250 buy-in First Pitch and moves right into the $20 Lead-Off PKO, the $100 RBI C-Note, and the $20 Extra Innings 6-Max – all on the first day. Most days going forward will offer three tournaments per day, with the exception of four on Saturdays and four on Sundays.

The Main Event, also known as the Grand Slam, is the highest buy-in of the series. It is scheduled as follows:

  • Event 24 (Sunday, July 21 at 6 p.m.):  $1,000 buy-in NLHE Grand Slam ($50,000 guaranteed prize pool in each state)

Win a Baseball Jersey

Ordinarily, BetMGM Poker tournament series highlights some of the events as trophy tournaments. In the BetMGM Summer Classic, players will receive specially-made BetMGM Poker baseball jerseys for those special events.

There will be one jersey event per day during the series, except for July 21 when there will be two jersey events that evening.

When players log on to play poker online at BetMGM, they will find the full schedule for the state in which they’re playing – New Jersey, Michigan, or Pennsylvania. The buy-ins are the same across the three states, though the prize pool guarantees vary slightly.

The Summer Classic jersey events for all three states will be as follows:

  • Event 1 (July 14 at 5 p.m.):  $250 buy-in NLHE First Pitch
  • Event 6 (July 15 at 8 p.m.):  $20 buy-in NLHE Base Hit
  • Event 9 (July 16 at 8 p.m.):  $500 buy-in NLHE 6-Max Big Fly
  • Event 12 (July 17 at 8 p.m.):  $100 buy-in PLO Curveball
  • Event 15 (July 18 at 8 p.m.):  $250 buy-in NLHE 6-Max PKO Hit & Run
  • Event 18 (July 19 at 8 p.m.):  $250 buy-in NLHE 7-Max 7th Inning
  • Event 21 (July 20 at 8 p.m.):  $20 buy-in NLHE Base Hit
  • Event 23 (July 21 at 5 p.m.):  $250 buy-in NLHE Moon Shot
  • Event 24 (July 21 at 6 p.m.):  $1,000 buy-in NLHE Grand Slam

How to Play the BetMGM Summer Classic

The easiest way to play the events of the Summer Classic is to buy in directly at the starting time or during the late registration period.

Of course, all players don’t have the $100 or $250 or $1,000 buy-ins handy. That’s what satellites and qualifiers are for! They’re like playing minor league baseball with a scout waiting to take the best hitters directly to the majors.

Players will find numerous ways to qualify for the Summer Classic events at drastically discounted prices. Win a satellite to qualify for a next satellite or direct tournament entry.

Summer Classic Pick-a-Card Promotion

The famous Pick-a-Card promotion is back, this time for the BetMGM Poker Summer Classic. It works in coordination with BRPs (BetMGM Rewards Points), which players earn through simply playing poker on the site in cash games or tournaments.

By earning 20 BRPs in a single day, players then qualify for the Pick-a-Card promotion. This starts on July 12 and runs through July 20. Players who qualify will receive a notification to play Pick-a-Card. The cards available will reflect these prizes, and the player will win one of them:

  • $1,000 Summer Classic tournament ticket (like a home run)
  • $100 Summer Classic qualifier ticket (hitting a triple)
  • $10 Summer Classic qualifier ticket (hitting a double, halfway to home)
  • $2 Summer Classic qualifier ticket (on first base, a few more bases to go to get home)

The best part of this promotion, as always, is that players can qualify once per day July 12-20.

Don’t forget that BRP Power Hours run daily from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and players earn double the normal amount of points during that time.

The series features three online tournaments daily. Its initial Pick-a-Card promotion starts on July 12.
