Poker is back in a big way at the Event Center at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa thanks to the upcoming Borgata Poker Open, powered by BetMGM Poker. Set to run from September 3-17, this year’s series promises to deliver an exhilarating blend of high stakes, fierce competition, and unparalleled poker action.
The much-anticipated Borgata Poker Open features a schedule with something for everybody, including new mixed events, heads-up events, and even a $10,000 High Roller event. Obviously we can’t forget about the centerpiece of the series, the $1.5 Million Guaranteed Borgata Poker Open Main Event, which should attract a star-studded field of both seasoned pros and ambitious amateurs.
Low Entry Fees, Big Prize Pools
There are a few events on the Borgata Poker Open schedule that players will have circled on their calendar as they will offer the biggest prize pools. One of the mainstays of poker tournaments at the Borgata has always been a small entry fee, huge field, multi-day events. This series continues to push that agenda with the $1 Million Guaranteed $800 Kick Off Deep Stack Event. That event contains five different starting flights and kicks off the series from September 3-7.
The Borgata Poker Open comes back with another seven figure guarantee later in the series with the Almighty Million. With an even smaller buy-in of only $500, this event gives players a shot at big prizes at a reasonable price point. The Almighty Million also features five starting flights and runs from September 9-13.
Wedged between these million dollar guarantees, we have one of the most popular formats in the poker world today: a Mystery Bounty Event! The $500k Mirror Mystery Bounty Event comes with a $1,250 price tag and runs from September 6-9. Excitement will be in the air as the Mystery Bounty element comes into play on Day 2, and players draw tickets for huge bounty prizes.
Event Livestreams
Note that all three of these aforementioned tournaments will have their final tables livestreamed online. In addition to covering these final tables, the Borgata Poker Open will also be running a number of other streamed events throughout the series. Poker enthusiasts can tune into the livestream for everything from 5-10 PLO to the $150k BetMGM Online Hybrid Championship Final Table.
If you have a taste for the higher stakes, tune in to see me battle in the High Roller No Max Event on September 12. Livestreams kick off daily on September 6 and will be running through the 17th.
Viewers will also be able to follow along via livestream during the $3,500 Borgata Poker Open Championship. One of the best new features with the livestream this year at Borgata will be Feature Table Live Stream starting on Day 3 where viewers can follow players in the event as they position themselves playing down to the final table. I’ve always found these pre-final table streams more strategically interesting than final tables where stacks and dynamics are already set.
High Stakes Experience
Towards the end of the series we will start to see the buy-ins and stakes ramp up, culminating in the $10,000 High Roller Experience Event on September 16-17. A new event on the schedule, this event will be played in a private elevated gaming space on the 32nd floor of the MGM Tower.
Truly a VIP event, any high roller willing to pony up the $10k will be given a complimentary three-night stay at the MGM Tower in the Borgata, admission to the welcome party with food and wine pairings, complimentary tableside massage, and rake-free re-entry – should their first entry not pan out. Personally, I am thrilled to participate in this event and eager to see what kind of appetite the Borgata Poker community has for high stakes tournaments.
As the tournament series quickly approaches, the buzz around this season’s Borgata Poker Open is palpable. Players are eagerly finalizing their travel plans while fans are looking forward to witnessing some of the best poker action of the year. With past winners having etched their names in poker history, this year’s event is set to add new chapters to that storied legacy.
Get ready for an electrifying two weeks of poker, where strategy, skill, and a bit of luck will determine who walks away with the trophy and the title of Borgata Poker Open Champion.
